Nickelodeon’s Unfiltered is a TV game show that gives competing panelists clues in order to uncover the identity of the weekly mystery guest. Featuring prominent actors, artists, athletes, and more, over 40 episodes have been shot 100% remote. In its first season, Unfiltered, was the most-watched unscripted live-action cable show among audiences aged 6-11. This project was made possible by a bespoke remote package designed and distributed by TV Tech.

Contestants and celebrity guests alike are mailed a camera, a computer, and a light. We guide them through a quick and easy setup, then control the rig remotely. On their screen, they see the other contestants, director, program feed, and any other necessary participant. Each feed is controlled and switched out by our facility in Saugerties; while the full-quality capture is recorded locally and shipped back. Metadata is carefully tracked so in-camera records can be automatically re-linked with the proxy live edit or program feed. Additionally, live filters were utilized to mask the face of each week’s secret contestant.
Thank you to ViacomCBS and Nickelodeon for trusting us to tackle a new era of remote production. We’re very proud of the remote production system we delivered.
